I apologized for adding extra work to his plate and he replied "That's ok". I asked him if he was okay and he responded (again without looking up) "Too many people".
His facial affect was flat and he appeared unhappy. He merely waved his hand and said "can I help you". When we did arrive at the hotel, the fellow behind the counter did not even look up and acknowledge our presence. My husband happened to check the website the day prior to our departure from Vernon and saw a notice on the website that the restaurant would be closed on the day of our planned arrival and that there would be no room service! This is something that should have been communicated with patrons booked into the hotel via email. I booked this hotel for the sole purpose of knowing there would be room service available when we arrived shortly after dinner time. We must have hit this hotel at the wrong time.
